🔤 Simple Meaning:

  • All the dualities and changes exist only while people are alive.

  • After death, even the shroud (kafan) doesn’t change.

🧠 Connection to Philosophy:

  • Life appears full of variety, drama, and change.

  • But ultimately, everything ends in stillness and sameness (death).

  • This supports the idea that worldly differences are superficial and temporary → leading to detachment (vairagya).

🪶 2.

🔤 Simple Meaning:

  • Life is a strange accident.

  • Even death does not end its cycle.

🧠 Connection:

  • Refers to cycle of birth and rebirth (samsara).

  • Suffering continues even after death because ignorance continues.

  • Matches Mahavira’s idea: without awareness, the cycle never ends.

🪶 3.

🔤 Simple Meaning:

  • If I am trapped in the prison of existence, I will change its history.

  • Don’t think my being born is just a game.

🧠 Connection:

  • Life is like a prison (bondage).

  • But humans have the power to transform it into freedom (moksha).

  • Reflects Mahavira’s teaching: take responsibility and break the cycle yourself.

🪶 4.

🔤 Simple Meaning:

  • My self-respect opposes dependence.

  • Even if passion or devotion is available outside, I will not beg for it.

🧠 Connection:

  • Rejects dependence on external help (God, rituals, others).

  • Emphasizes self-reliance and inner journey.

  • Aligns with Mahavira’s idea: no external savior — liberation is self-earned.

🪶 5.

🔤 Simple Meaning:

  • Even in the shade of trees, there is still sunlight (heat).

  • Let’s leave this place forever.

🧠 Connection:

  • Even in apparent comfort, suffering remains hidden.

  • Worldly pleasures cannot remove suffering.

  • Leads to vairagya (renunciation) — the urge to go beyond the world.

🪶 6.

🔤 Simple Meaning:

  • Those who wish me a long life —

  • I laugh at their innocence.

🧠 Connection:

  • People think long life = good life.

  • But life itself is full of suffering.

  • So wishing for more life = wishing for more suffering.

  • Reflects insight: depth matters, not duration.

🪶 7.

🔤 Simple Meaning:

  • The dew is like tears, the bud is closed and suffocated, the flower is torn apart.

  • Can this collection of sorrow really be called a garden?

🧠 Connection:

  • What appears beautiful (life/world) is actually filled with suffering.

  • The “garden” (world) is actually a collection of pain.

  • Reinforces Mahavira’s statement:
👉 “The world is full of suffering.”
